What Is NAS?
Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) is the medical term for the condition where a baby that was exposed to opioids during pregnancy is born dependent on opioids. Babies with NAS experience difficult withdrawal symptoms that can last for several weeks and include multiple gastrointestinal and central nervous system problems, such as tremors, intense crying and seizures.
